Patterson's mother, Tamika Humphries, told CBS-2 her daughter's death is a tragedy.

"You know, them cowards just stole her life from her. It's sad, it's sad. She went to school, she worked, she did everything she is supposed to do as a teenager," she said.

Police say a 21-year-old woman was critically wounded in the shooting, while the other four victims, ranging in age from 11 to 17, were stabilized at hospitals.
