Search Underway For Missing Boater At Gary Beach
GARY, Ind. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Authorities are searching for a 45-year-old man who disappeared from a capsized boat Sunday in northwest Indiana.
Pawel Knych was on a speedboat about 5:50 p.m. when his boat overturned at Marquette Beach in Gary, according to Gary police.
Officials located Knych’s cellphone and life vest in the boat, but Knych remained missing Monday morning, police said.
In a news conference, officials said Knych may have been ejected from the boat.
Knych is a white male, 6-feet-4, and was wearing a gray t-shirt and white shorts, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Coast Guard or Gary police.
