Several people who spoke to WBBM Newsradio in the Loop shortly after the Mayor's announcement were very surprised by the news.

Many were also very happy, criticizing the way Emanuel has handled a number of issues, especially gun violence and the police department.

Aaron from South Shore said he feels like speed cameras that have popped up all over the city are just taking people's money and said it's time for someone else to have a chance as mayor.

One supporter said he had planned to vote for Emanuel again and credited him with making Chicago a world-class city.

While many people said they didn't plan to vote for Emanuel's re-election, they're not sure who they'll support in February.
