CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Chicago Public Library's first new service point in eight years now calls the West Loop home.

Things got loud inside the new West Loop Library at 122 North Aberdeen, as city officials cut the ribbon on the nearly 17,000 square foot facility.

Library Commissioner Brian Bannon said the new branch, CPL's 81st, has something for everyone.

"We have a sound studio, a recording studio, all kinds of cool things that teens and adults can use," Bannon said. "We have a digital media and learning lab and a makerspace for the community to use."

Alderman Walter Burnett gave credit to a developmental donation, community involvement and help from City Hall.

"If I didn't have a Mayor that I could work with and commissioners who know that I can just talk to the Mayor and if I say something, the Mayor will pretty much work with me on it, this wouldn't happen," Burnett said.

The library will host a family celebration next Saturday.
