CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Thursday night's game at Soldier Field was the first chance for fans to see the 2019 Bears, and also their first chance to experience a new ticketing policy.

All fans entering Soldier Field this season must do so with a ticket on their mobile phone.

"There are no more paper tickets? Period?" one fan asked. "That's beautiful. I love it!"

The team has said the goal is to make entering the stadium easier and to crack down on counterfeit tickets, something fans like Michael Armstrong fully support.

"A lot of these scalper guys sell fake tickets," he said. "They're making a boatload of money. It's terrible because you see fans that can't get in. It's just bad business."

Rodrigo wasn't surprised to see lines moving quicker as fans flashed their smartphones to staff.

"It's natural," he said. "Everything is on our phones now."
