King Bio Issues National Recall Of All Aqueous-Based Products Due To Possible Contamination

August 28, 2018 - 10:25 am

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- King Bio issued a recall for all of its water-based products for children, adults, cats and dogs across its seven brands.

King Bio describes the problem as a “water-purity issue.” But in the company-written FDA-posted recall notice, King Bio said the problem is a “microbial contamination.”

The announcement follows a last week's recall of children’s medicine’s over the concern of microbial contamination.

The company's founder, Frank King, announced the expanded recall in a statement on the website Monday.

"On August 27, 2018, King Bio voluntarily recalled all of its aqueous-based products due to possible water-purity issues. This includes all brands (Dr. King’s: Natural Medicine, Aquaflora, Natural Pet Pharmaceuticals, SafeCareRx, Natural Veterinary, and Safecare) and includes liquids, oral sprays, nasal gels, creams, and lotions.

While there have been no reports of illness or injury due to any of our products, we chose to issue the recall out of an abundance of caution. King Bio is notifying its distributors and customers by letter and is arranging for return and/or replacement of all recalled products. Consumers, distributors, and retailers that have recalled product should discontinue use and or distribution and contact King Bio at: to arrange a return."

The company said use of the medicines could result in increased or life-threatening infections. There have been no reports of illnesses as of Monday.

King Bio, a North Carolina-based company that makes homeopathic drugs, said last week that a small percentage of its products produced between Aug. 1, 2017 and April 2018 tested positive for the microbial contamination. The recalled products are used to treat dozens of conditions, including allergies, migraine, anxiety, bed wetting, chicken pox, common colds, nosebleeds, sore throat and teething.

Customers are urged to stop using the affected products immediately and contact King Bio. Consumers who believe they may have been sickened by one of the recalled products should contact their physician or healthcare provider.

The lot numbers for each of the 32 brands of kids’ products are listed in the FDA recall notice from last week. The lot numbers for the over 100 brands of adult products and 20 kinds of over-the-counter pet products are on the King Bio website.
