(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The cast of the groundbreaking HBO series "Game of Thrones" -- including actors from seasons past, their characters long since killed off -- assembled in New York this week to mark Season 8, which will conclude the fantasy show.

A Getty Images photographer was on hand to catch the premiere after-party.

"It's very exciting because there's a whole new chapter of our lives we're embarking on, but it's also really sad because this other chapter is closing, and we won't be able to play these amazing characters anymore," Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, told The Associated Press. "I've got my waterproof mascara on tonight because I know there'll be a lot of crying."

Season 8 debuts kicks off April 17.
