CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Cubs fan with Down Syndrome will be getting his wish: to sing the national anthem at Wrigley Field.

Singer and song writer, Stefan Xidas issued a proposition to Cubs owner Tom Ricketts - if Xidas could raise $5,000 for Special Olympics Chicago, he hoped the Cubs would allow him to sing the national anthem during a game at Wrigley Field.

"It has been a lifelong dream of mine to sing the national anthem at the Cubs game," Xidas said in a video attached to the fundraising page.

He closed the video saying, "so what do you say, Tom, do we have a deal?"

Xidas' GoFundMe page said he has raised more than $11,000. According to the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Cubs are going to have Xidas sing the national anthem before Monday's game against the Brewers. The Cubs will also match the donation.

Xidas wrote a convincing letter to Ricketts reading:

My name is Stefan Xidas. I’m 30 years old and have Down syndrome. A dream of mine has been to sing the national anthem at a Chicago Cubs game.

I’d like to make a deal with Tom Ricketts, the owner of the Chicago Cubs. If I’m able to raise $5,000 for the Special Olympics Organization, Tom Ricketts will let me sing the National Anthem at a Cubs game.

If Tom isn’t able to make this happen, I will still be donating the money to the Special Olympics. This is an organization that is helping so many people like myself. I really love and appreciate the work that they do.

Thank you and go Cubs!

Stefan Xidas

Since finding out the news, Xidas posted an update on the GoFundMe page that reads:

I wanted to thank everyone for their generous donations and support throughout my campaign to live out my dream of singing the National Anthem at a Cubs game. I’m excited to announce that because of all of you, my dream is going to come true. The Chicago Cubs have asked me to perform the National Anthem before their game this Monday, September 10th at 7:05pm vs. the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Cubs also announced that they will be matching our donation which is currently over $11,500. Together, we are going to be able to donate over $23,000 to the Special Olympics Organization. This is such an incredible moment for me. Thank you to everyone who has helped raise this money and made my dream come true!

Love, Stefan
