Christkindlmarket Opens Friday In Daley Plaza

November 16, 2018 - 11:24 am

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Get ready for schnitzel, potato pancakes, gluhwein, and all things Germany as the Christkindlmaket returns to Chicago.

The 22nd annual Christkinlmaket returns Friday to Chicago's Daley Plaza.

The annual market offers dozens of vendors selling everything from traditional food and drinks to unique ornaments and other trinkets and gifts. Over 60 percent of food, drink and merchandise vendors come straight from Germany.

In 2016 and 2017, the Christkindlmarket opened two other locations at Naper Settlement in Naperville and Gallagher Way in Wrigleyville. This year the market will not be returning to Wrigley, but 2018 does mark the inaugural year of the Christkindlmarket Milwaukee at the entertainment plaza outside Fiserv Forum.

Admission to the Christkindlmarket is free, so be prepared for large crowds. It will be open from Friday, Nov. 16 until Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
