CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Classes start Tuesday for Chicago Public Schools and there's still no contract, but Mayor Lightfoot said there's no reason for there to be a teacher's strike this year.

The Mayor had hoped to have a deal in place with the Teacher's Union before the start of school.

"I really do think that we have all the tools that we need and the offer on the table to be able to get the deal done," Mayor Lightfoot said. "Despite the rhetoric in the public, at the bargaining table we're definitely making progress.

"I think we've done everything that we can.  We just need the teachers union to continue coming to the table."
