Would-Be Millionaires Swarm VFW Post For Jackpot

Queen of Hearts display at the VFW in McHenry (Facebook/McHenry VFW Post 4600)
MCHENRY (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- After a run of 22 months, the McHenry Veterans of Foreign Wars post is determined to find a winner for its Queen of Hearts raffle.
Tuesday's drawing will be the same -- one ticket pulled, one card revealed. If it's not the queen of hearts, the post will do a drawdown on Sept. 18 until a winner is found.
Only eight of 54 cards remain, and the payout to the winner has grown to nearly $6.1 million.
The VFW post, on Illinois 120 at Green Street in McHenry, has been flooded with would-be millionaires.
Post Cmdr. Dwane Lungren says tickets are six for $5, cash only, and are sold only at the post.
The post opens each day at 11 a.m., and tickets are sold any time they are open.
Because that has meant traffic jams at all hours, police are urging those seeking to buy tickets not to park in private lots or driveways.
Temporary parking for both drawings will be set up across Route 120 from the post, and on Adams Drive and Barney Court.
