CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The 19th annual Chicago WingFest takes flight Sunday.

Chicago WingFest is a gathering of the area's top wing-slingin' chefs along with over 3,000 wing-loving attendees.

The event includes live music, an eating contest and more than 9,000 pounds of wings from over 30 restaurants.

"I'm already hungry, I have fasted this week so I can go get wing-wasted this weekend," said Chicago WingFest Co-Host Samantha Thomas.

“I am just excited to taste each one, and it's like a carousel of carnivorous people like me."

The highlight of the day for participating chefs, she said, is the announcement of the coveted "Best of Fest" trophy awarded to the overall top scoring restaurant.

The event runs noon to 4 p.m. at UIC Pavilion, 525 S. Racine Ave.
