CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Gov. Pritzker’s policy czar on marijuana the state will make sure there’s an ample supply of medical marijuana when recreational use becomes legal next month.

Toi Hutchinson said she’s heard from people who use marijuana for medical purposes who worry recreational use will lead to shortages of medical marijuana.

Hutchinson says the state will keep a close eye on the supply to ensure the demand for medical marijuana is met.

Dispensaries that sell both medical and recreational marijuana are required to maintain minimum levels of medical marijuana.

If they don’t, Hutchinson says they face penalties ranging from fines to losing their dispensary licenses.
