CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Some suburban men are "baring it all" to help veterans.

Veterans Q Barbecue launched a funny calendar to help raise funds for veterans organization.

"We wanted to try to do something that was fun, something that was outside the box," said Steve Lulofs, President of Veterans Q Barbecue Sauces & Rubs, in Huntley. "The best and funniest thing we could think of was doing a calendar with 'dad bods.'"

That's right, "dad bods."

It's the “2019 Barbecue Boy Toys” calendar, featuring men with "normal" bodies baring almost everything in front of the barbeque grill. The calendar features 12 different men, with “dad bods,” in various boudoir poses eating barbecue food. Almost all the men in this calendar are military veterans themselves.

“What is better or funnier than guys with dad bods eating barbecue food while in boudoir poses? This calendar will provide us the opportunity to raise money for veteran organizations that we support,” Lulofs said. “The sole propose of our company is to raise funds for creditable veteran organizations while putting out great products.”

WBBM: What's the difference between a 'dad bod' and maybe a more traditional calendar bod?

"Well really a 'dad bod' is a little bit more plumpier, not really too toned and fit," Lulofs said.

They hope to sell 1,000 calendars by the end of the year to help veterans.

Veterans Q Barbecue Sauces & Rubs will also be hosting a Veterans Day Release Party on Nov. 11 at Ellyn’s Tap & Grill in Glen Ellyn, IL.  There will be food, giveaways, and an opportunity to meet some of the men featured in the calendars.  Ellyn’s Tap & Grill is also donating 20 percent of the proceeds from the “BBQ Giveback Food Menu” to veteran organizations that Veterans Barbecue Inc. supports.
