UPDATE: Escaped Parolee Captured

April 24, 2018 - 5:21 pm

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A parolee who escaped the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections was arrested in north suburban Glenview Tuesday night, news outlets are reporting.

Kir Moorman, 29, overpowered his parole officer as the officer was trying to arrest him in the South Shore neighborhood earlier in the day. The website of the Illinois Department of Corrections says he was on parole for armed robbery.

Chicago Police Spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said an Illinois state parole officer was trying to arrest Moorman for violating parole.

"And he somehow overpowered his parole officer. We're told that he could be restrained -- possibly handcuffs -- and we have been assisting the Department of Corrections in locating him, especially on the South Side of Chicago,” Guglielmi told WBBM Newsradio.

The escape happened mid-morning in the 2700 block of East 81st Street.

Moorman's capture was reported by CBS Chicago and the Chicago Sun-Times.
