Trevathan Named NFC Defensive Player Of The Week

September 19, 2018 - 10:00 am

(670 The Score) Linebacker Danny Trevathan took pride in the team effort in the Bears' 24-17 win over the Seahawks on Monday night. Now, he has an individual honor for his work.

Trevathan was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday morning after a performance that included eight tackles, two sacks, a tackle for a loss and a forced fumble.

Signed to the Bears in 2016, Trevathan has become a key leader for the defense. He's part of a group that sacked Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson six times.

Trevathan becomes the first Bears player to win this honor since safety Eddie Jackson did so last October in Week 7 of the season. Defensive lineman Akiem Hicks took the honor in Week 13 of the 2016 season.

The Bears (1-1) travel to Arizona for a game with the Cardinals (0-2) on Sunday.
