CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – With Halloween falling on a Wednesday this year, this weekend is the time to celebrate all things Halloween. From parades to parties, trick or treating to bar crawls and much, much more.

And if Halloween is not your thing, there are plenty of other happenings this weekend in and around the city. Plus, the Chicago Bears and Chicago Blackhawks are playing at home on Sunday.

Here's a look at things to do this weekend in and around Chicago.

Lyric Opera Halloween Masquerade

Spend a haunted evening in the Civic Opera House at the Lyric Halloween Masquerade, which raises money to support emerging operatic talent. Attendees are encouraged to arrive dressed in a mask and formal attire for a party that includes cocktails, bites from local restaurants, drag performers and a live DJ. The ticket also includes admission to an after party at Celeste.

Logan Square Halloween Parade

Logan Square's annual Halloween procession brings out costumed kids (and adults) from all around the neighborhood for a festive celebration. The parade begins at the Illinois Centennial Monument and marches south on Kedzie Boulevard to Fullerton Avenue before looping back to Lula Cafe for hot cider and cookies. As usual, punk rock marching band Mucca Pazza will be leading the festivities and providing the spooky soundtrack.

Brew-Ja Crawl

From the makers of Pilsen Cantina Crawl comes Brew-Ja Crawl, a Day of the Dead-inspired tour of the neighborhood’s exciting beer, food and music scenes. Guests are encouraged to wear their most creative costumes and board trolleys that will transport them to 14 unique bars and restaurants throughout the Pilsen neighborhood for a day of drinking, eating, shopping and other shenanigans.

Boo! At the Zoo

Brookfield Zoo’s annual Halloween celebration provides a haunting good time for the entire family. The fun-filled event, presented by Ferrara Candy Company, features a 7,000-square-foot corn maze, giant pumpkin carving demonstrations, a costume parade and contest, and Halloween-themed crafts and activities each weekend. In addition, there will be special animal Zoo Chats about some of the zoo’s creepy critters.

Where: Brookfield Zoo, 8400 W. 31st St., Brookfield

When: Recurring weekly on Saturdays and Sundays, now-Oct. 31

Cost: Included in zoo admission

Clark Street Trick or Treat

More than 100 businesses in Andersonville will participate in the annual Clark Street Trick-or-Treat event. There is a costume contest for families at AlleyCat Comics. Registration is from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Gus Giordano Dance School's Zombie Dancers perform Thriller and Monster Mash at the corner of Clark and Farragut at 12:40 p.m. Also taking place is the Halloween Parade steps off at Pierce Elementary School at 12 a.m. traveling north on Glenwood Avenue to Gethsemane Garden Center (5739 N. Clark Street). Gethsemane will also host its annual children's fall fest 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

4th Annual Día de los Muertos Festival

It's the 4th annual Día De Los Muertos Festival para Niños! An event for the whole family to celebrate this tradition with music, crafts, face painting, and more.

Where: Benito Juarez Community Academy, 1510 W. Cermak Rd.

When: Sunday, 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Haunted Segway Tour

Roll through spooky alleyways, historic lobbies and along the Chicago River as your guide brings stories of infamous gangster murders and disasters back from the dead. This two-hour segway tour explores the bloodiest events in Chicago history, and exploring on segways mean speedy travelling between creepy sites. This tour is for ages 12 and up.

Jack's Pumpkin Nights

Want to run through a corn maze without making a trip to the suburbs? Jack's Pumpkin Nights, a new Halloween-themed pop-up experience, brings the seasonal outdoor fun to a two-acre lot near Goose Island. Guests can enjoy pumpkin carving, carnival games and nightly live performances from sword swallowers and fire dancers. Plus, there's a bar inside of the corn maze stocked with beer and cider.

Randolph Street Market: Oktoberfest

Chicago Fashion Week

Fashion Week in Chicago is part of a week-long lineup of fantastic Fashion Week events as we present The Shows and The Marketplace, a Chicago fashion experience which showcases amazing designers, apparel, and products, giving you fashion, wellness and beauty in uniquely Chicago venues. The main weekend shows will take residence at the Administration Building of the famed Spiegel mail-order fashion catalogue.

Brookfield Zoo Wines in the Wild

Sample exquisite wines and liquor from around the world, accompanied by hors d’oeuvres. The fundraiser, hosted by the Chicago Zoological Society’s Women’s Board, will also feature a raffle and silent auction.
