CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Chicago firefighter is in trouble after his 14-year-old daughter posed with his assault weapon on social media.

The caption with the photo read, “Don’t worry. I won’t shoot up Lane,” an apparent reference to Lane Tech High School. Police began to investigate as soon as Lane Tech security contacted them.

Authorities checked the firefighter’s house and found a Sendra assault rifle.

The girl is not charged, but her father faces charges of failing to secure a gun from a minor and assault weapon possession within the city.

Lane’s principal wrote parents that the Snapchat post resembled a threat, although there was nothing specific.  He concluded that “CPD deemed that there was no threat to the school and at no time was there ever any safety risk to students or staff.”

WBBM Newsradio is seeking comment from the Chicago Fire Department.
