October 19, 2018 - 5:52 pm

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Three people were hurt when an SUV hopped a curb near the old Tribune Tower and crashed into a building along Mag Mile Friday afternoon.

Witnesses say it's amazing that no pedestrians were hit.

Authorities say the accident happened around 4 p.m. after the driver of an SUV stopped to make a quick trip into the Apple store on North Michigan Avenue and left three children to wait in the vehicle.

A 15-year-old then jumped into the driver's seat and hit the gas, striking a car, jumping the curb onto the long concrete plaza and crashing way several yards in, into Fidelity building.

Three in the SUV were transported to Lurie Children's Hospital. A woman in the car that was hit is at Northwestern Memorial.

Chicago police say all were stabilized.
