GURNEE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A teenager was injured Thursday in a fight in which a gun was fired — but no one hit — in north suburban unincorporated Gurnee.

Deputies were called about 5 p.m. to shots fired in the 17700 block of West Horseshoe Lane, the Lake County sheriff’s office said in a statement.

They found a 17-year-old who lived at that address and had injuries from the fight that were not life-threatening, the sheriff’s office said.

Two males in their late teens or early 20s had approached the person’s home and began speaking with him just outside or inside the residence, the sheriff’s office said. The three began fighting, and someone pulled out a gun and shot it, but no one was struck.

The two males left in the Honda they showed up in, the sheriff’s office said. Authorities said they do not believe the incident was random.
