CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- At least three people were wounded in shootings Thursday across Chicago, including a man who was shot after a group of people broke into his South Shore apartment.

The man, 38, and his girlfriend, 37, were in bed about 2:15 a.m. in the 7800 block of South Ridgeland Avenue when three males broke in, Chicago police said. They forced the couple out of bed, leading to a brief struggle ending with the 38-year-old being shot in the back by one of the suspects.

The man was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center where his condition was stabilized, police said. His girlfriend was not injured in the incident.

No property seems to have been stolen from the apartment, police said.

A couple hours later, a 27-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in Lawndale on the West Side.

He was outside about 4:30 a.m. in the 3400 block of West Douglas Boulevard when he heard shots ring out and felt a pain, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg, and his condition was stabilized.

In the day’s latest shooting, a man was shot in the foot in Bronzeville during an argument.

About 9:24 p.m., an unknown male unleashed gunfire at a 26-year-old man after they argued outside of a retail store in the 500 block of East 47th Street, police said.

The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Wednesday’s shootings killed two people and wounded four others.
