CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Four people were shot—two fatally—Wednesday in Chicago, including a woman who was killed in Cragin on the Northwest Side.

The woman was inside a store about 11:30 p.m. in the 4800 block of West Fullerton Avenue when a man confronted her and their altercation turned physical, Chicago police said. The man shot the woman in the head, then fled in a dark-colored SUV.

The woman was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said. Unconfirmed police radio chatter suggests that the shooting happened at a Walgreens.

The shooter was wearing a red hoodie and dark jeans, police said. No one is in custody as Area North detective investigate.

Wednesday’s first shooting of the day was also a homicide.

About midnight, two men, 21 and 39, and a woman, 32, were standing near the street in the 6600 block of South Halsted Avenue when a group of men walked up to them and opened fire, Chicago police said.

The 32-year-old woman was stuck in both legs and taken to Stroger Hospital while the 39-year-old man was hit in the right leg and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said. Both of their conditions were stabilized. The 21-year-old was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition, and later died.

Area South detectives are investigating the shooting.

In non-fatal shootings Wednesday, a man was wounded in Roseland on the South Side.

The 28-year-old was walking about 6 p.m. in an alley in the first block of West 105th Street when someone in a vehicle opened fire, Chicago police said. He was struck in the left bicep.

The man was taken to Roseland Community Hospital where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Area South detectives are investigating.

A man was also wounded in Albany Park on the North Side.

The man, 31, would not cooperate with police, but a witness stated that just before midnight, a fight inside a business in the 3400 block of South Sunnyside Avenue led to shots being fired, Chicago police said. The victim was struck in the right leg and fled in a rideshare car to the 4700 block of North Kedzie Avenue.

Police and emergency services personnel were called to the location and took the man to the Illinois Masonic Medical Center where his condition was stabilized, police said.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate the shooting.

On Tuesday, 11 people were wounded and one was killed in shootings across the city.
