CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A man was killed, and two others were critically wounded in a shooting Wednesday in South Chicago.

They were standing on a sidewalk about 10:50 p.m. in the 8300 block of South Kingston Avenue when someone in a gray sedan opened fire, Chicago police said.

Lonnie Wilson, 34, was struck multiple times and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He was pronounced dead on Thursday. He lived in the area where he was shot.

An autopsy conducted Friday confirmed he died from his gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office said. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Another man, 26, was hit in the head and leg but was able to take himself to South Shore Hospital, authorities said. The third man, of an unknown age, took himself to the same hospital with gunshot wounds to the chest and right side of the body.

No arrests have been reported. Area South detectives are investigating.
