CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A teenage boy was killed and a man was wounded in separate shootings Thursday on Chicago’s Far South Side.

The 15-year-old was on the sidewalk just after 9 p.m. in the 12400 block of South Michigan Avenue in West Pullman when someone approached him in a vehicle and opened fire, Chicago police said.

The teen was struck once in the head and once in his side, police said. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released details on his death.

The day’s first shooting wounded a 57-year-old man in Fernwood.

At about 2:55 a.m., he was opening the door of his home in the 200 block of West 105th Place when someone fired shots at him, striking him in the right shoulder and hip, police said.

He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Wednesday’s shootings left one person dead and five others wounded across the city.
