FRANKFORT (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A VFW post in Will County is staying open, now that so many people have donated money to help solve the post's financial problems.

But the commander says his mission is to find out how things fell apart.

Frankfort VFW Post Commander Stan Tylinski said he is livid: "Because nothing was done."

Meaning, debts weren't paid and forms weren't filled out by the people who were in charge at the post before he took over.

"For years we were pretty solvent, doing OK. And all of a sudden, why?"

Tylinski said Tuesday he's trying to reach the people who were responsible. In some cases, he said, they're not available.

The Frankfort VFW's doors are staying open. The next fundraiser is Jan. 16. Proceeds will be earmarked toward paying off the mortgage.
