Storms Roll Through Chicago Area, Causing Scattered Outages

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- No injuries have been reported as a result of the quick-moving storm that hit the Chicago area Tuesday, but there are numerous reports of downed trees and power lines.

In Aurora, a tree hit a house and car near Garfield and Franklin Avenues.

Other communities reporting trees and power lines down include Algonquin, Sycamore, Hampshire, Gurnee, Lake Zurich, North Barrington, Libertyville, Villa Park, Lombard, Elmhurst, Elmwood Park, Gary and Portage.

As of 10 p.m., Commonwealth Edison reported 27,000 customers without power. The northwest suburbs were hit the hardest, with power out to 18,374 customers. Another 271 lost power in the northern suburbs, 4,166 in the western suburbs and 4,171 in the south suburbs.
