CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Two boaters were pulled from the Chicago River today by a tour boat operator and the U.S. Coast Guard.

The incident happened late Wednesday morning on the river at Roosevelt Road, when a boat overturned and spilled two occupants.

Crew aboard a Shoreline Sightseeing boat pulled one person out of the water, while the Coast Guard pulled the other to safety.

Both are OK, but Shoreline CEO Chip Collopy said it’s happening all too often.

“In four days, we’ve pulled three people out of the water,” he said. “This is becoming more and more prevalent.”

Novices should not be on the river, he said. He fears someone could get pulled under the water by boats’ propellers.
