CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A middle school teacher, accused of attempted murder in a road rage case, is on administrative leave.

Authorities say Andres Rodriguez got hired by Lyons School District 103 while he was out on bond for the criminal case. Acting superintendent Patrick Patts says they did their homework in the hiring process.

Rodriguez was let go from the Cicero School District this summer when they learned of his pending criminal case.

He was working for Joliet School District when the incident happened.

Rodriguez is accused of shooting a man seven times -- several of those shots while standing over the man after he fell, following a traffic dispute in Tinley Park in July of 2017.
