Runner Breaks Women's Marathon Record In Chicago

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A runner from Kenya has set a new women's marathon record.

Brigid Kosgie, 25, on Sunday finished the Chicago Marathon with a time of 2 hours, 14 minutes and 4 seconds. That beats Paula Radcliffe's world benchmark of 2:15:25, which was set at the London Marathon in 2003.

Winning the men's race was Lawrence Cherono from Kenya, who finished 02:05:45.

Daniel Romanchuk and Manuela Schär defended their wheelchair-racing titles.
