CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago Police say an anonymous donor is offering $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever shot and killed a 25-year-old Northwestern doctoral student in Rogers Park three months ago.

WBBM's Steve Miller reports.

"I remember always hearing that the holidays are a hard time for people, and I never really understood why. But I do understand now,” said Tonya Colombo, the mother of Shane Colombo.

The NU student was fatally shot in crossfire near Clark and Howard on Sept. 2.

Now, an anonymous donor is contributing $10,000 to a reward in the hopes of finding the person - or persons - responsible for Colombo's death. Police previously released surveillance images of persons of interst.

Authorities say Colombo was shot multiple times.
