CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- It was only about three minutes into his remarks to reporters Thursday, on the eve of Sox Fest, when White Sox Manager Rick Renteria made the declaration.

Listen to your team news NOW.

"I would be disappointed if we don't make the postseason. I would think that would be accurate. We want to break through," Renteria said. "We want this to be an impactful season."

Renteria clearly believes the rebuilding White Sox did enough in the offseason to strengthen themselves and not just, say, get to .500.

The manager also knows there's plenty to work on, citing defensive work for Eloy Jimenez in left field and Tim Anderson at shortstop.

Among the big offseason moves the South Siders made was the signing of free-agent catcher Yasmani Grandal.

Sox Fest is sold out.
