Multiple Fatalities, 1 Suspect in Custody After Texas Walmart Shooting: Officials

EL PASO, Texas (1010 WINS) – Multiple people have been killed in a shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, the city's mayor's office says.

Local police and federal authorities responded to an active shooter at the Cielo Vista Mall in the eastern part of El Paso. Police confirmed to multiple outlets that the shooting was at a Walmart near Hawkins and Gateway East boulevards.Police said the shooter was in the area of the Cielo Vista Mall in the eastern part of El Paso.

Olivia Zepeda, chief of staff to to El Paso Mayor Dee Margo, said multiple people have been killed in the shooting.

Margo said three suspects are in custody and that there is currently no threat to the public.

Local station KTSM is reporting that 18 people were shot at the Walmart. Witnesses described hearing gunshots coming from the store.

"The scene is controlled by officers," a police sergeant told reporters, adding that one suspect is in custody.
