Kobe Bryant And Daughter, 13, Die In Helicopter Crash

CALABASAS, CALIF. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- NBA legend Kobe Bryant, 41, and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, are were among nine people killed in helicopter crash Sunday morning in Calabasas, CA. They were reportedly on their way to an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) event for Gianna. 

TMZ was the first to report the news.

A Los Angeles County Fire Department representative said that all nine people aboard the helicopter perished in the accident. The representative said the fire department doesn't know who owns the helicopter. It's been reported that the pilot, another player and a parent were among those traveling with Bryant when it went down. 

The Sikorsky S-76B helicopter that Byrant and his daughter were aboard used to belong to the State of Illinois and flew with the registration N761LL, according Helis.com. It was repainted and re-registered as N72EX, the aircraft that reportedly crashed this morning. The helicopter was sold to Island Express Holdings in Van Nuys, California, Helis.com states

In addition to Gianna, Bryant and his wife, Vannessa, have three other daughters: Natalia, 17, Bianka, 3, and Capri, born in June 2019. 

Bryant, who spent his entire NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers, was a five-time NBA champion, four-time All-Star MVP, an NBA MVP in 2008 and 18-time All-Star.
