It's no secret that social media can have poor effects on our mental health, but Instagram wants to help.

Instagram has released a new tool to help users find accurate information on topics including mental health and wellness amid the coronavirus pandemic, reported Good Morning America.

The new mobile tool, called Guides, allows users on Instagram to find tips and resources from several publishers, including GMA.

Instagram is using this platform to focus on the importance of wellness and mental health, especially what is happening in people's lives during the coronavirus pandemic.

"We've heard that even as we move into the recovery phase of the pandemic, there will be a continued toll on people's well-being as they deal with long-term economic and social impacts such as continued isolation, financial instability, or anxieties about the health of family and friends, or even grief of having lost a loved one to the virus," Instagram said in a statement.

Instagram also wants people to use this positive platform to help them face these challenging times associated with COVID-19.

Users on the app can access Guides by visiting the profile of participating creators like @afspnational, @heads_together, and @deepikapadukone and tap the middle icon to view their Guides.

Instagram is planning to add a "Wellness" section in the Explore tab where users can find Guides.

Ginger Zee, a meteorologist at GMA, has already created her first guide on the app.

In the video, Zee shares the five things that she does to protect her mental health.
