CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Governor Pritzker is predicting a "great" partnership with Chicago's new mayor.

The Governor was asked about his relationship with Mayor-elect Lori Lightfoot after signing "Tobacco 21" into law on Sunday.

"I had dinner with Mayor Lightfoot at the end of this last week," Pritzker told reporters. "I'll see her again in Springfield on Wednesday."

Pritzker complimented Lightfoot as an advocate for issues that he and the rest of Chicago truly care about.

"I said all along throughout the campaign that I would work with whoever won. Everybody would ask me, 'who are you going to vote for?' What's important is will the Governor work with the Mayor and will the Mayor work with the Governor? Already, I can tell we will."

The Governor also told reporters his relationship with Lightfoot will be a much different story compared to former Governor Rauner's rocky tenure with Mayor Emanuel.

"We had four years where the Mayor and the Governor didn't talk to one another."
