CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Democrat J.B. Pritzker's gubernatorial campaign has fired two staff members because they posted a photo that shows one of them wearing a beauty product that looks like blackface.

The photo shows one of staffers, smiling and wearing a charcoal-mask beauty product.

A spokesperson for the campaign said the two were disciplined for showing poor judgment and not understanding that the photo could have offended people.

The Pritzker campaign is facing a lawsuit filed by several current and former staff members alleging an atmosphere of racial discrimination – something the campaign denies.

The issue of blackface has been in the national news. NBC has canceled Megyn Kelly’s morning show because of comments she made about blackface costumes.

The Pritzker campaign stresses the photo in question was not a costume.
