Power Outages Follow Wind Gusts; Some Areas Hit With Brief Snow

October 20, 2018 - 4:55 pm

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Thousands of ComEd customers were without power after wind gusts ripped through the Chicago region Saturday.

Nearly 50,000 customers were affected as of late afternoon, with about half of those in Cook County and Will County, the utility said. ComEd crews were in the field trying to restore power.

Meantime, some suburban areas also got some graupel and snow, amid falling temperatures, which offered an early taste of winter.

Temperatures were expected to be around 50 degrees Sunday, with sunny conditions.

The windy conditions caused some flight delays at O’Hare Airport and a few cancellations.
