Police Warn Job-Seekers Of ID Theft Scam
PALOS PARK (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police in Palos Park are warning job seekers about a fake website.
Chief Joe Miller says a resident came to them this week after applying over the weekend for what he thought was a job at Community Health Systems.
The applicant figured he may have been scammed, after going on an E-interview and completing paperwork that asked for a lot of personal information, Miller says.
The chief says the man then contacted the real Community Health Systems and the Tennessee-based hospital chain said other people had complained to them about a fake website.
Scammers were using real names of employees, but fake contact information.
The company suffered a data breach back in 2014.
Miller suggests anyone who thinks they may have had their identity stolen should put a credit freeze or a fraud alert on their report.
