Police Respond To Reports Of Active Shooter At Aurora Manufacturing Company

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Aurora Police are responding Friday afternoon to reports of an active shooter at a business in the 400 block of South Highland Avenue.

According to reports, the business is believed to be Henry Pratt Company, a valve manufacturing company, located at 401 S. Highland Ave.

Four police officers have been wounded and the shooter was apprehended at 3 p.m, according to the City of Aurora's Twitter. Witnesses said the shooter is an employee at the company.

West Aurora School District 129 has placed their buildings on a soft lockdown. 

"There are reports of an active shooter at the Henry Pratt building near Cleveland and Prairie just east of Luigi's Pizza, as a result, we are holding all district students in place for their safety, there is a police presence in the area. Per directions from the county sheriff, the District has been advised to go into a soft lockdown situation across the district. Teaching will continue with reduced movement. Normal operations will resume when the soft lockdown has been lifted. No one will be allowed to leave or enter our buildings until the soft lockdown has been lifted," West Aurora School District 129 said in a statement.
