(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Indiana State Police have conducted a raid on a gated community, and a published report suggests it’s because private security there was handling drunken-driving cases improperly.

Authorities said they raided the offices of the security department of Lakes of the Four Seasons, a gated subdivision between Valparaiso and Crown Point.

A news release said investigators are following up on alleged violations related to controlled substances, impersonation of public servants, criminal confinement and other offenses stemming from traffic stops.

A source told the Northwest Indiana Times that the development's security force didn't report drunken driving incidents to police.

Drivers were pulled over by the security force, detained, and assessed fines that were payable to the homeowner's association.
