(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- One day and two lives saved. That’s thanks to two deputies and their K9 partners with the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

WBBM's Michele Fiore reports.

When a 36-yea-old Waukegan man with mental health issues disappeared over the weekend, deputies determined where the man was last seen, then called on Dax and his handler, Lake County Deputy John Forlenza to help.

They tracked the scent a quarter mile to a Waukegan school where the man was found, showing signs of hypothermia on a park bench.

Hours earlier, Deputy Craig Somerville and his K9 partner, Diesel, successfully located a missing person, also in the stages of hypothermia.

Sheriff Mark Curran said he's proud of their canine teams.
