(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Plainfield man charged with murdering his parents at Central Michigan University last month will not have to stand trial, for now.

The attorney for James Davis says the 19-year-old has been declared incompetent.

His court-appointed lawyer, Joshua Blanchard, says Davis instead will undergo treatment in an attempt to make him competent enough to aid in his own defense.

Davis is facing two counts of murder in the shooting deaths of his mother and father -- James and Diva Davis -- in his university dorm room on March 2.

Police officials have not revealed what they believe was the motive for the killings.
