Physician Urges Caution During Heat Wave
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Health experts say the heat we’re expecting this week is not only dangerous, it’s potentially deadly.
WBBM’s Jim Gudas reports.
Dr. Ernest Wang is the chief of emergency medicine at North Shore University Health System. He said Tuesday even people who don’t exert themselves could quickly succumb to heat stroke.
If you start to get confused in the heat or stop sweating, get medical help immediately, he said.
If you see someone having those symptoms, call 9-1-1 because, he said, heat stroke is a medical emergency.
He also recommends staying in air conditioning as much as possible and keeping hydrated.
Here is our latest forecast for Thursday, Friday, & Saturday for the upcoming heat wave. pic.twitter.com/EzYDHC9dE4
