Person Jumps Onto I-80 From Tinley Park Overpass
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A person was seriously injured after jumping from an overpass onto Interstate 80 Wednesday morning in southwest suburban Tinley Park.
At 10:01 a.m., the pedestrian jumped from the 80th Avenue overpass onto the eastbound lanes of I-80, according to Illinois State Police District 5. The person, whose age and gender were not released, was then hit by multiple vehicles.
The person was airlifted to a hospital in serious condition, state police said.
All eastbound lanes were closed after the incident, according to state police and the Illinois Department of Transportation. Two lanes were reopened by 11:36 a.m. and the last one was reopened about noon.
