CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- For iPhone fans in Chicago and around the country, the wait is over. The iPhone XS and XS Max are now available in stores.

Several dozen people lined up outside the Apple Store on North Michigan Avenue to get first crack at the new iPhone X.

Store employees led the iPhone fans in chants and cheers before the store opened at 8 a.m. Friday morning.

Freddy Druzewicki of Chicago pre-ordered his phone last week.  He was first in line, but his wait was just two hours.

"I have been an iPhone person, probably since I was born. I have always been about Apple. Got my first iPhone in the sixth grade and have had one ever since," he said.

What does he like about the iPhone X?

"I love having a large screen phone because it's good for so many different things, so I'm really excited about that."

The iPhone XS has a 5.8-inch display, the iPhone XS Max is 6.5 inches. Each is available in three finishes: Silver, Space Gray and Gold.
