Parents Were Trying To Evict Son Before Murder-Suicide: Police

May 29, 2018 - 6:59 pm

WINFIELD (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Police in west suburban Winfield say an adult son murdered his elderly parents after learning they were trying to kick him out of home they shared.

Karl Clinkenbeard, 50, killed his parents, 76-year-old Clyde Clinkenbeard and Nancy Clinkenbeard, 77, on May 20 before killing himself, police said in a news release.

Multiple sources told police the murder-suicide occurred after “Karl learned that Clyde and Nancy intended to remove him” from their home, the release said. Police had investigated a family disturbance the day before the deaths.

Each suffered “multiple sharp force injuries,” the DuPage County Coroner’s Office said.

Officers responded to the home in the 500 block of Jefferson Street and found the bodies after a concerned citizen called 9-1-1.
