CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The calendar might say "Spring," but it sure feels like Winter in the Chicago-area.

The unusually cold weather in the Chicago-area has many people wondering when the temperatures will return to Springtime levels. Among them is Michael Bauer of East Rogers Park, who admits he's surprised it's this cold this late in April.

“This is a horrible April," Bauer said. "Of course it surprises me. But this too will pass.”

Based on the Accu-Weather Forecast, it will be a bit before we return to seasonal temperatures in the Chicago-area. The highest forecasted temperature this week is 48 degrees, and that won't hit until Friday, according to Accu-Weather.

The first half of April has been the fourth coldest on for Chicago, and it was the coldest start to an April since 1975, according to the Sun-Times.
