CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --  A special week of golf is coming up in Chicagoland: The 70 top golfers in the FedEx points standings meet at Medinah Country Club for the BMW Championship next Thursday. From this tournament, a Top 30 will be determined to play in Atlanta for the chance to win the FedEx Cup.

Over the past 20 years, Medinah has hosted PGA Championships twice -- 1999 and  2006 -- and the 2012 Ryder Cup that saw a last-day European comeback to win the Cup from the U.S. The Chicago-area last hosted the BMW Championship in 2017 at Conway Farms in Lake Forest. This is the first time Medinah has hosted the event.

WBBM's Dave Kerner visited Medinah and talked to Director of Golf Marty DeAngelo about the No. 3 course where the tournament will be played, what kind of changes have been made to it since the Ryder Cup, and some of the more challenging holes the golfers will face through the week as they try to advance in the FedEx Cup rankings.

Hint: It's the drama. "It's all about the drama of the Ryder Cup," DeAngelo said. Listen in.
