CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --  If you're looking for a cool place to spend some time this hot holiday weekend, the Shedd Aquarium has a new exhibit.

It's called Underwater Beauty and it just opened to the public on Friday.

The special exhibit features 100 different species and is the most diverse they've had, according to senior director of exhibits Kris Nesbitt.

Among the creatures featured are fish that swim backwards, a rainbow-colored shrimp and hundreds of shimmering fish that swim together. Based on previews, people find the underwater habitats relaxing, Nesbitt said.

If that's not enough, there's a chill-out room in the space. Shedd staffers worked with a lighting designer to make the exhibit easier to photograph.

The best part: for the first time, the cost of the special exhibit is included in the general admission ticket.

The Shedd is open from 9 to 5 on Memorial Day.
