Sex Offender Lists Lincoln Park Daycare As Home Address

June 15, 2019 - 11:09 am

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Illinois State Police are working to find a convicted sex offender who listed a Lincoln Park daycare as his permanent address after he was released from prison, CBS 2 reported.

The whereabouts of Mark Heyer are not yet known. He was convicted of sexually abusing a 6-year-old in 1998 and has not been seen since 2013, according to the Chicago Police Department.

According to CBS 2, the website the state police use to list where convicted sex offenders live shows that Heyer used the address of the St. Vincent dePaul Center, a social-services agency that provides daycare for children under five. Authorities believe it is not accurate.

However, CBS 2 also reported that police consider Heyer, 52, as noncompliant because he failed to report his location three times since 2007.

“It’s very disturbing to us that this person was able to use our address,” Peter Beale-DelVecchio, CEO of Marillac St. Vincent Family Services, told CBS 2. “People entrust us with their children day in and day out, and they need to know that it’s a safe place.”

A mother whose child attends the daycare tipped off police.

State police officials told CBS 2 that after they verify the address Heyer listed belongs to the daycare, the sex offender registry will be updated to “location unknown.”
